IRCTC Clarifies No Change in Tatkal, Premium Tatkal Booking Timings

In light of widespread social media chatter suggesting changes to Tatkal and Premium Tatkal ticket booking timings, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has issued a clarification, confirming that no updates have been made to the booking schedule.

Posts circulating across multiple platforms have alleged modifications to the timing structure for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets, prompting confusion among passengers planning train travel.

IRCTC took to its official social media channels to address the misinformation. The corporation stated clearly that no proposal is under consideration regarding a shift in the timing for Tatkal or Premium Tatkal bookings for any class.

"There has been no change in the existing schedule for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal ticket bookings across AC and Non-AC categories," the IRCTC message read.

- AC Classes (1AC, 2AC, 3AC, CC, EC): Reservations start at 10:00 AM, one day before the date of travel.

- Sleeper Class (SL): Bookings begin at 11:00 AM, one day prior to the scheduled journey.

Example: For a train departing on April 20, Tatkal bookings would be available starting at 10:00 AM on April 19 for AC classes and at 11:00 AM for Sleeper Class.

Premium Tatkal Booking Window

Premium Tatkal serves as an alternative when regular Tatkal quotas are full. The service uses a dynamic pricing model, where fares increase based on seat demand and availability.

- AC Classes: Booking begins at 10:00 AM, one day ahead of travel.

- Sleeper Class: Reservations open at 11:00 AM, a day before the journey.

Note: Premium Tatkal fares are typically higher due to the dynamic pricing mechanism in place.
